Uniform Dress Code Guidelines




Eastside Connections School
To minimize disturbance to the educational environment, the following guidelines
have been set for student dress while attending.

Uniform Dress Code

  1. Navy blue or khaki pants (no jeans or sweat pants).
  2. Navy blue, khaki jumpers.
  3. Navy blue, white or light yellow polo shirts (logos must be smaller than 1").
  4. Plain white or navy blue button down dress shirts may be worn.
  5. Plain white or navy blue (short or long sleeve) t-shirts may be worn under shirts.
  6. Navy blue, white or light yellow sweatshirts or cardigans may be worn over polo shirts. (no hoodies)
  7. Appropriate shoes should be worn to school.
  8. For safety reasons, no flip-flop or slides should be worn and only sandals with straps across the heal will be allowed.
  9. Shorts, dresses or skirts must extend closer to the knee than the hip. The length must be a minimum of a hands width between the end of the short, dress or skirt and the top of the knee.
  10. Pants, skirts and shorts must be worn at the waistline.
  11. Yoga pants, leggings or sweatpants are not considered uniform pants. Ballet, tulle and sequin skirts are not considered uniform skirts. Leggings (white, navy blue or black) may be worn under jumpers or skirts. Holes above the knee on any type of pants are not considered uniform.

Uniform Free Day Dress Code

  1. Clothing, patches, buttons, jewelry, bags and any other personal items should be appropriate, neat and clean.  Any item containing or depicting obscenity, profanity, weapons, offensive message of race and religion, ads for illegal substances or symbols found to be disruptive to the educational environment are not acceptable.
  2. Jewelry or body adornments determined to be disruptive or dangerous, are not allowed.  Any accessories such as chains, spikes or jewelry that could be detrimental to the safety and/or welfare of other persons will not be permitted.
  3. Revealing, sheer, and/or low-cut clothing will not be allowed.  All shirts, tank tops, and/or blouses must cover a minimum of half of each shoulder the the entire torso.  Shirts such as tank tops, camis, undershirts, and mesh shirts cannot expose the bare midriff.
  4. Hats, sunglasses, hoods, winter scarves, bandanas and other headgear may not be worn inside the building.
  5. Shorts, dresses or skirts must extend closer to the knee than the hip.  The length must be a minimum of a hands width between the end of the shot, dress or skirt and the top of the knee.
  6. Significantly torn or altered clothes (with primary focus on holes or tears above the knee) are not allowed if skin is exposed at or above similar level as stated in #5 or as described in #3.
  7. Athletic pants and short are permitted. (pants made with flannel or fleece that are considered "pajama bottoms" are not permitted).
  8. Yoga pants or leggings may one be worn when covered by a shirt, blouse, sweater, skirt, etc., but must extend to a similar level as shorts and skirts.  Sagging pants riding below the waist that may expose skin or any garment worn under the pants are not allowed.
  9. Coats or lined jackets are to be left in lockers, not worn to class.
  10. Excessive makeup, costumes, or accessories that are distracting to instruction are not allowed.

** The first Friday of the month will be Uniform Free Friday. Appropriate school clothing should be worn on free dress days.

** All other Fridays will be ECS spirit days. Along with jeans, students are permitted to wear ECS or Niles logo'd tops.

***Cold weather. The students will go outside for a short period of time if the temperature is above 10 degrees. Please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat, gloves/mittens, and boots when appropriate. Students at Eastside Connections School also need to wear snow pants. Please label your child's belongings.
